Carrying out improved construction practices starts with an emphasis on collaboration and reliability. Leading general contractor, Turner Construction is employing the principle of Lean Construction on the state-of-the-art outpatient center for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center located on the Upper East Side. TEC took the initiative to follow-through with this practice and pursued it leading with the installation of the center’s designated air-handling units. TEC’s project team flew to Canada to meet with the engineers at Ingenia to begin the initial phases of commissioning. Seeing the overall high-level of the manufactured craftsmanship and support the team knew that the modulating integration approach was a promising foundation. The approach for prefabricated attachable units helps to assure the quick workflow and scheduling parameters Turner looks to achieve through the Lean practice. For Memorial Sloan Kettering, they will be receiving several air-handling units that completely overhauls the industry standards. Assuring the highest consistency and superior level support, TEC integrated with the several facets to promise continual comfort and quality controls – Interior spray nozzles assist with the humidification process, while ionizer air and UV light ballast work to disinfect the air that could carry hazardous pathogens to recovering or ill patients.
TEC is pleased to be apart of this new development. The newest XL Web controllers utilized from Honeywell are guaranteed to seamlessly work with the cancer centers mechanical and HVAC utilities. Electrically communicated devices ensure that the monitoring, alarms and data trends feedback to the BMS with the fullest accuracy. Onsite engineers and staff alike can hope to see easier to navigate floor plans, menus and mobile interactions for convenient 24/7-control access.
