We are pleased to announce the formation of a new operation within the TEC Systems organization. TEC Converged will be dedicated to the provision of Converged IT infrastructure supporting unified building technologies. Converged IT infrastructure simplifies commissioning, operation, maintenance, and complexity of equipment, cabling, labor and future modifications, and with lower CAPEX and OPEX costs, provides a higher return on investment.
TEC was recently selected to install the Converged IT infrastructure supporting the BMS, Corning One DAS, Wi-Fi, telephony, electric sub-metering, video, access control and other systems vital to the operation of a new 2 million square foot commercial building in Manhattan. Our holistic approach will ensure that these building systems are securely and seamlessly working together from day one, and properly positioned to meet future needs.
In support of this new operation, we are thrilled to announce Barry Fagan has agreed to join TEC Systems as Vice President – Converged Systems to lead this initiative. Barry comes to us with more than three decades of IT experience; his early career was that of an independent IT consultant focusing on the real estate and financial services communities. More recently he spent over a decade as Vice President, Director of Information Technology at The Durst Organization and most recently as Managing Director and Chief Technology Officer at Resiliam.
At The Durst Organization, Barry directed technology strategy and execution for a portfolio totaling 13 million sqft, managing the associated capital and operating budgets. His responsibilities demanded liaison between building ownership, tenants, contractors, and suppliers all in an effort to develop the best possible IT solution for all. Projects as wide-ranging as 4 Times Square, One Bryant Park, The Epic, and One World Trade Center in both a construction and operations capacity provided him with a unique perspective on how building technologies are designed, installed, and operated.
