Positioned in the middle of 77th and madison avenue, the French inspired avant guard hotel is one of the most luxurious hotels that occupies one of many NYC’s historic landmark buildings. With one-hundred and fifty rooms and ten permanent residents the hotel was in need of a building automation system second to none. TEC Systems realized they needed to provide a system that was simple to operate as well as efficiently enough to help keep energy costs down without compromising comfort.
TEC Systems utilized Honeywell XL-1000 controllers in conjunction with VICONIC stats to communicate with the units already furnished in the hotel. The controllers were also responsible for the cooling tower, primary pumps and chilled water pumps to assure adequate plumbing functionality. The major highlight of the project was the chiller and boiler set up TEC System tied into using industry standard protocols of BACnet and LonWorks. To tie in the completed work, TEC Systems graphic department created a user friendly graphic interface that was easy to understand which ultimately helped to eliminate any unnecessary downtime through a remote log in connection. The improved service response time for the hotel helps reduce the hotels service and maintenance cost annually.
